Living with food allergies is a nightmare, and although in their own way all the allergies are bad, the nut allergy and the shell food allergies seem to have the most fatalities. I couldn't imagine dealing with that type of allergy!
In my family, my Husband and daughter have gluten and wheat allergies, and my eldest Son has an allergy to honey, so shopping and eating out has to be done extremely carefully!
It makes you wonder how people go on that don't know they have a serious food allergy as they might never have had the food they are allergic to, and once they have had the food they could find themselves in a very frightening situation!

Do you think it was done on purpose? It does not seem to exist a motive so far.
Though not as severe as my father, the only food allergy I know of that I have is a shell fish allergy. He can't take even a small bite of lobster without having his throat close up.
Myself? Well it matters how it is cooked and which sort of shell fish we are talking about.
There was one time I simply had the noodles in which was found the pinkish red shrimp with nothing over it, where I broke out in a rash and had trouble breathing needing to lay back for a bit until such a reaction died down.
Yet there is this one Chinese buffet where I can pop a certain breaded shrimp without seemingly any ill effects through I never tested it past having only a couple of pieces.
Then there is clam chowder, which I have a love and weakness for, where generally I can have without ill effect unless I have a cracked lip which then causes it to swell up. There I belive was one other time I believe where it make my throat feel a bit itchy.
Food allergy is triggered by perfect storm of genetics and skin exposure to infant wipes, dust and food. Infant and childhood food allergy has now been linked to a mix of environmental and genetic factors that must coexist to trigger the allergy, reports a new study. Those factors include genetics that alter skin absorbency, use of infant cleansing wipes that leave soap on the skin, skin exposure to allergens in dust and skin exposure to food from those providing infant care. The good news is factors leading to food allergy can be modified in the home environment. Source 1w.
