I got that from CNN. They've only declared 8 dead but a lot more are missing. These large scale natural disasters are becoming more frequent. Could be that over development of certain areas is causing this.

Authorities confirmed six more deaths from a massive landslide that wiped out about 30 houses on Saturday, bringing the death toll to 14. More than 100 people are still unaccounted for, although authorities cautioned that number is based on reports, some of which are very vague. Ref. USAToday

The number of people unaccounted for in the Washington landslide has dropped from 90 to 30, according to Jason Biermann with Snohomish County Emergency Management.
He said the official death toll rose Saturday by one, to 18.
Earlier Saturday, officials eulogized the rural residents of Darrington and nearby Oso who lost their lives when a hillside collapsed and obliterated everything in its square-mile path one week ago. Ref. CNN
