It is good that they are thinking of the health and safety of people. I know in parts of Africa where AIDS is rampant lines of teenage boys are still circumsized with the same rusty knife or tool. In any country, if a tradition becomes a health risk, people should look at whether things can be changed slightly for their best interest.

The involvement of people to the best is the main thing for development of the country. Such type of traditions must be banned and various awareness programs must be organized time to time. This will result in creating more knowledge, without compelling them to leave their work and study. It is noticed that small awareness programs have big impact on the mind of the people.

You are right Michaeldans. Giving up harmful traditions and learning to adapt to what is going on health wise and safety wise is how cultures change over time. I'm sure this is how society got the way it is today.
