Groundhog Night

I never been able to find anyone that has experienced what I have in a recurring dream that started when my father died. I am wondering if there is anyone who has experienced anything similar to this:

My father died on a business trip when I was 26 yrs old. He was in California at the time and I was in Virginia when I got the phone call from his employer. I hopped on a plane and was home in St. Louis by nightfall. That night, I dreamed his last day. Starting from breakfast at the hotel, the weather and ride to his meeting, the people he met with, what they talked about, his ride back in the rain and his heart attack. I am there in the dream, but we don't speak and he does not acknowledge me until the end of the dream where he is going to get out of the car. We talk there...I give him a family update and he says he has to go. Then, it is like I am outside the dream again.

I had this dream everyday following his death for about 4 years. Now, I have the dream for about 2 months before and after his death.

The strangest part of the dream is that I could tell the Hotel Name, room number and the decorating of the room in the dream and verified it. I knew things I was not supposed to know about the meeting and who he met with, as my father worked for a defense contractor and had significant security clearance. I knew the color, license plate number and model of his rental car from the dream as well. I had never been to California before the dream either, but I do go to visit and while I was there I visited the hotel and drove the highway...just as in my dream. I end up exactly where I dream he went on that day and it looks as I imagined it...

I have tried to come up with reasons as to why I might have known some of the things, but I cannot rationalize all if it.

The first year or so of the dream, I rationalized that I was upset that I could not stop him from running out of the car in the rain (which started the heart attack). I really hated going to sleep as my job and my nature is to solve problems. After the first year, I look forward to the meetings. I have trouble with believing in spirits (aside from religious), but have thought that maybe I am the conduit that he can make sure that the family is alright and doing well.

Night Groundhog

Maybe your dream is a reflective subconscious talk touched by something divine. Okay, so that sounds 'far and away', so let me explain in better words... what I am saying is that you may need closure, or maybe you feel your father needs closure and there is something missing that can bring it to a close.

As you reflect do you feel like there was something unfinished in your relationship with your father while he was alive?
