He said that so subtly that I would of hardly noticed, but maybe that is because I'm white male and not black. Someone who hated Imus was listening at the time.

White or black I think what he said was not necessary and since he is known to be a controversial talk show host he has added some more fame to his medal patch.

The Coach

Just one year ago, Rutgers women's basketball coach Vivian Stringer was dealing with the fallout of radio host Don Imus's controversial remarks about her team. After 36 years of coaching, it was not the first time Stringer had dealt with adversity. She talks to ABC's Robin Roberts about her battle with breast cancer, her daughter's debilitating disease and finally recounts in detail, for the first time, her reaction to Imus' comments.

Imus is in the news again. It seems he is being once again accused of racial remarks against a Black sports figure. What are your thoughts - just picking on Imus or is there something there?

Don Imus

No doubt that anything even close to being perceived as racial by Imus is going to be magnified, but here is the gist of it:

From ESPN

QUOTE
Imus called the flurry of criticism surrounding the comments "ridiculous" and said that his program's cast is now more diverse than ever -- and includes a black producer and two black co-hosts, a man and a woman.

"How insane would I have to be? What would I be thinking?" Imus wondered aloud.

The latest comments by Imus to come under scrutiny were aired on Monday's broadcast. During a conversation about Jones' run-ins with the law, Imus asked, "What color is he?" Sports announcer Warner Wolf said Jones -- formerly known as "Pacman" -- is "African-American." Imus responded: "There you go. Now we know."

Now Imus contends that he was being critical of how blacks are arrested more often than whites... By the snippet I provided, it doesnt sound like it and I am sure that is how it is being portrayed in all the media. So if that was what he was thinking, he needs to be more clear, however, this was by far less than his previous comments that got him into trouble.

You know, I actually took it that way with this comment. He wasn't being crude as he was in the first comment against the basketball players. I have heard over and over again how the law will treat blacks different than whites, and when I read this and what was in the paper....when he said "now we know", I thought it was just a stress on that fact--not that he was being racial.

On the other hand, I do not listen to him on the radio and the only things I know about him are the headlines when he "gets himself in trouble" so to speak. I don't know where he stands on racial things--I just thought that this comment was nowhere near "racial" like the first one.

He is just going to be way more under the magnifying glass than most other radio personalities. He should be overly clear when he even sniffs around a racial topic. Other than that...he can shock away, because that is what he is paid to do.
