Come to think of it, I have seen some reports of what goes on during Carnival. Yeah, it will be difficult to make him out a criminal when you have that many people doing similar sorts of things in the streets once a year. It looks to be a step up on the show that you might see at Mardi Gras in New Orleans or Halloween in Key West. You pretty much summed it up...hypocrisy.
It must be the vagueness of his lyrics that required a visual representation!
The thing that runs through my mind is that people usually sing with the performer at concerts. It would be great if you had a few ministers on video singing to Akon's greatest love songs. That would make for some fantastic negative press for the ministers and a distancing of dignitaries from Akon.
Verizon has also decided to remove Akon's music (which was a part of the available ringtones) from their cellular phones too! Investigations are currently being conducted into the simulated "rape scene" as shown on "YOUTUBE."
This is not going to affect him in the least, today Verizon is gone but tomorrow hundreds of companies are lining up willing to support him.
A couple of links that talks about it:

I am sure that the Alleyne family are thrilled to learn that everything is slowly working out in their favour. First, Verizon's announcement to terminate its contract with Akon and next, the investigation into the lewd dancing on stage at Zen nightclub.
Here in Trinidad, most individuals approve of anything that is done by a foreigner, including something as serious as a "simulated rape scene." However, it is no laughing matter in USA since a "simulated rape scene" is considered a very, very serious offense.
Well I guess the whole world may be anxiously waiting, to see the outcome of this investigation.
According to TV6 News Akon has sent an apology to Dana, her family and the Trinidad Community for his concert. He basically hinted that he was doing this because he thought she was at least 18 and it was the onus of the Zen club to ensure that the age was met. In other words... it would have been the same act, just a different person. Akon - it is people like you and your supporters who buy your filth that causes such a degrading mindset among people.
