RATE OF U.S. WOMEN DYING IN CHILDBIRTH RISING
U.S. women are dying from childbirth at the highest rate in decades, new government figures show. Though the risk of death is very small, experts believe increasing maternal obesity and a jump in Caesarean sections are partly to blame.

I read the article and basically this is much to do about nothing. The rate went from 12 deaths per 100,000 to 13 deaths per 100,000.
So?
Seriously, that's such a low rate, such a negligible change? Sounds like a slow news day. And the article points out several reasons why it might be happening, with 1/3 of women getting a C-section (why?) and loads of older moms than before.
Not to stunned there, I mean if you are going to start having a lot of older moms, then of course it will be more dangerous. This is a no-brainer in my view.
Rather off topic, but... Could you IMAGINE if someone suggested to the women-rights group that they postpone their career and first focus on their family while they were young? Nah... |
