Stare Times
I've heard that if you stare at the opposite sex for...
1 second you are just checking
2 seconds you are interested
4 seconds you are a bit infatuated
10 seconds you are a predator
Is this true?
First of all, I was raised to believe that it is impolite to stare at people. But I must honestly admit that I have caught myself staring at strangers, unintentionally. I have to agree with the first two lines, after one or two seconds, it would be safe to say that I am definitely "interested" in the individual. After four seconds, I wouldn't say that I am infatuated with the person; more curious perhaps but not infatuated. I may be wondering if he is a friendly, flirtatious, does he accept women as his equal etc. I cannot recollect staring at a person for more than ten seconds. I think that would be enough to make anyone uncomfortable. Unless you are the type of person who enjoys every second of a stranger's attention! Perhaps staring at a person for ten seconds or longer does not make you a predator but a true Trini!
Rather off topic, but... Here in Trinidad, people love to stare at others for hours on end. It doesn't matter if you are a foreigner or a local! |
I think that's silly. If you look at a person or at a person who knows what you or they think. A lot of times you are just looking in that direction or at their clothes or nothing in particular. In doing these type of thinking you become more paranoid and you could react to something in unfriendly ways.
