Baw999 Introduction

Hey everyone,
I am a 28 year old American, and I'm considering moving to Trinidad. I'm here to try to connect with some T and T people to see what I can expect if I do choose to move...I am in love with a Trini girl who may have to move back there. She has not been back to Trinidad for a long time, and I'd like to find out some things about the country. I can't find much info on the internet. Here is what I want to know.
-I know Trinidad is a developing nation, and I have read about the crime there. I am white, but I am not a racially-oriented person. My girlfriend is of East Indian descent, and I love people of all backgrounds. Will I be targeted by criminals in Trinidad because I am a white American? What to Trini people generally think of Americans?
-What is the job availability like in Trinidad?

I guess I have a lot of questions, but the thought of moving somewhere totally different is a little scary. I really appreciate any input anyone has to offer...Thanks!
