Now I know I am going to get beaten with words for this Thread, but these are my observations anyway. I find that although Cricket is most definitely a game of skill there is that element of luck which plays a heavy role. Here is why:

1. I can't tell you the amount of times I have seen referees give false calls, especially LBWs - so it is luck if you stay or if you go. This is unfair and they should rely on the third referee for this.

2. When a yorker or spinner hits your bat the ball can go any which way, especially if it is a carrier or slider and merely pasts your bat and go on to an area of the field where there is no fielder to catch it. I can't tell you the number of times I have seen a batsman hitting a ball to 'x' place but it goes in the other direction!

Luck Skill Cricket

There is a luck but over the course of 300 balls skill will always prevail. Evidence? Ever seen Australia play?

Yes, one can always use Australia as the example of skill, but then again one would have to take into consideration that #1 above has nothing to do with which team is playing. In fact, one team may end up winning a game because of wrong calls from the referee - grossly unfair to say the least.

#2 can also be resolved by the number of absolutely foolish fieldsmen there are around that cannot catch the simplest of balls. Some of them may be intimidated by Australia batsman, but I can assure you that my son could catch better than them!

Luck Skill Cricket

Umpires can decide games if they want but that rarely happens. 9/10 Australia will beat Bangladesh no matter how bad the umpires are.

Fielding is an essential part of the game. Teams which neglect can easily lose 50-100 runs, no luck element there.
