Robotic Car Tests?

Tests, or a competition rather is schedule for late 2007 with a 60 mile road race for robot automobiles. This test will involve these vehicles (Without human intervention) to negotiate traffic, intersections as well as speed laws. This is going to be very exciting to see how well they do as one day I will purchase a car that will literally drive me to my destination safely while I sit quietly working on my laptop. This is going to be quite a break through providing tests are successful.

Wonderful, we are on our way to "I, Robot" becoming reality. I can't say that I'm disappointed, make technology work for you I always say. I cannot tell you the joy I would have to be able to spend my thirty minutes into work posting instead of worrying about driving!

I don't know if I would be on board with this concept at the beginning. Driving is something I enjoy. I like to feel in control of my vehicle. It is not as fun being driven around. It sounds too much like the society in 'Judge Dredd'. I agree it will cut down on accidents and speeding, but there is a fine line between automation and domination.
