Two Ears And One Mouth

There is this misconception that more you speak, more you know. When in fact just like the Buddhist belief states:

You have two ears and only one mouth for a reason.


What are your thoughts?

I have also heard it said that; "We have 2 eyes and 2 ears. Therefore we should see and heard twice as much as we speak."

Perhaps only half of what we see or hear is worth repeating. I personally also think the phrase is hinting is better to see and hear others problem then it is to mention our own.
