Recession Soup

As Americans pinch pennies, there has been less going out to dinner and more comfort food at home. And for many, nothing spells home like a bowl of Campbell's Soup. ABC News correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi takes a look at how the iconic brand, born in 1869, is surviving -- if not thriving -- in another recession.

Soup Campbells

While I like campbells soup I find that it is very expensive compared to the store or generic brands. I think I will continue to save by buying those brands first.

Exactly. Campbell's soup may have been the poor man's soup decades ago, but not now. If you want to talk about poor man's food then you mention things like pasta with butter or peas and rice, not Campbell's.

Exactly. I guess many people like Campbells soup and they will not eat anything else. I always see people in the supermarket buying it and it does have more options. I think if I get any poorer I will go with my rice, eggs and cheese recipe. smile.gif

I admit I still buy it but I seldom buy canned soup. I can make better cheaper. Thanks Mr. crockpot.

It is 20 cents more then the no name stuff, in my area. If you shop at the right stores.

That is true and if feeding many it adds up. We only buy 5 cans a year so I guess that is a big reason I do not worry about it.
