I was watching a show recently that has as the the theme this couple that wanted to have a baby, but could not. The man was reluctant to do what is described below, but gave into the taunts of his wife.

In order to get sperm count tested or to have invitro done you are normally taken to a room where you are informed that there are porn videos and magazines available and you need to Ejaculate Into A Cup and then pass it on to a nurse. Now as an LDS Guy... how would you feel about doing this? Do you think it would be morally wrong?

Farseer you are stating the obvious. The point of my post is thus:

A typical LDS guy hopefully should not have become familiar with masturbation before this point. Now think about it, you are now asked to perform the act in a hospital room or clinic would you be able to? The post is not about the porn, the porn is there as a means to getting an erection. If you decide to to do it without porn can you achieve an erection? If you were able to achieve ejaculation would there be some sort of morale / spiritual implications afterwards - all things to consider.

I don't see any moral implications to this medical test. If this is the ONLY time in a man's life where he does this, then how could he be condemned for it?

The biggest problem with pornography, masturbation, even Word of Wisdom problems isn't in the single accidental or medical use of things. It is in the attitudes and rebellion that lead to use and abuse.

One thought came to mind is that when one tastes something they may think about doing it again, putting a virgin man to this/these acts may spurn seeds to do it elsewhere?

Yes but as it was discussed on the thread about masturbation, I also believe that most men have experienced masturbation at some point of their lives. I am not saying is fine. All I am saying is that maybe those who did not experience it they may be the ones with a strong opposition towards doing something like that in order to conceive.

That is exactly what I am getting at - we are not talking about those who do this occasionally or often and then put on a shirt and tie on Sunday and pretend it never happened, I am talking about those who do not do this at all or EVER and then are expected to in the most undesirable of settings! Am I painting this picture right. You will note that I carefully worded my initial Post.

Picture it this way... you are siting there - cold as ice - and you just cannot do it. What next? You want to have a baby, but the Dr. John is just not making it happen, so does a porn movie or a magazine justify the means? This is what I am getting at. I am sure there ARE LDS Guys who can make Mr. John work for them just by thinking he should, but this is not reality for some and may I say typical LDS guys.

Even if the LDS guy can make Mr. John work for him without watching a porn movie or a magazine, he must masturbate in order to accomplish the task. Aren't we then in the same situation? No matter what, he will end up doing something he has being counseled not to do. Interestingly enough, the Church is very aware of the procedure but never took a position about it.

Rather off topic, but... People tend to forget that when the Prophet specifically talks against Pornography, is NOT only about the dirtiness of these things but the fact that nobody watches porn and just do not do anything else if you get my drift. Porn and Masturbation go hand by hand.
