Congressional backers of a law designed to prevent deaths and injuries from pool and hot tub drains say the Consumer Product Safety Commission watered down the measure by siding with the pool industry. Members of Congress and the parents of victims are hoping to persuade CPSC to reverse its position as public pools across the country open to throngs this holiday weekend. Ref. Source 2

Law Drain Law Pool Public
I know that pool drains and even hot tube drains can be dangerous. This is why I will not let any family member be in a hot tube under the age of 15 and when my kids go to a pool it is a pool that has life guards. IF there is no lifeguards I will be at the pool with them.
