Yes Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas is reported by many media sources as claiming Bush said this. Where is your evidence that it was not said? Do you assume Abbas is lying? If so why do you assume this? Do you assume interpreters are incapable of accurately translating? Interpreters must maintain extremely high standards of accuracy or they wouldn't be interpreting for international events of such a high profile. What evidence do you have that there was an error in interpretation at any stage?

"Plain wrong" is a statement which portrays an extremely black and white view of things. A dead give away that more than only side of an argument is being considered.

Of course the preaching of violence on a children show is a black and white issue. It is wrong. However it would be very naiive to limit the discussion at that. If we can understand where this anger and violent tendencies emanate from, blame can be attributed righfully not just on the Palestinians but on others as well. Also one will come to the concusion that any solution or intervention will not just be required on the Palestinian side.

It is very fascinating the PBC was funded by the US. A fact I was oblivious of. Fatah and Mahmud Abbas have been revealed as corrupt and powerless puppets. It does not surprise me PBC was funded from US sources. However the childrens show in question I believe was aired on Hamas TV which is not regulated by the PBC (I think). Nevertheless PBC has its own share of violent images aimed at children.

Same evidence that the President of Iran's supporters claim he never meant to say that "Israel should be wiped off the map" as well as many other controversial statements. As a translator myself, I can tell you that errors are more common than you think. Having said that, I am not saying there is not a possibility that he mentioned that but you are talking about the statement as a fact, without taking into consideration that Bush himself never acknowledged such statement.

Plain wrong is the right statement. It is indeed a black and white view. Teaching children hate, violence of ANY kind is plain wrong. Full stop, to think otherwise is to have no concern over the repercussions these type of shows would have on the child. But maybe when you become a parent yourself, you will know exactly what I mean. It is very unfortunate that children of today have to live in a world that instead of learning the ABC's on Sesame Street are being taught to hate and kill others.

Why do people excuse violent teachings and actions by saying the West made me do it. The west doesn't produce the show that has a fake Micky mouse teaching children hateful stereotypes. The west doesn't force muslims to have state sponsored assassination orders because someone writes a novel disparaging the prophet. The west does not force Muslims to want to Kill Westerners and other Muslims if they have a different faith or view then theirs or write a cartoon that is insulting.

I acknowledge that the United States and the west have many flaws that I regret we have and I am ashamed of. While I acknowledge that America has its flaws (we indeed have many parts of our culture that I find sickening and morally bankrupt I.e. sexual promiscuity, degrading views of women ) America's flaws do not excuse the violence and anger that the Muslim world is dealing with. Every nation has to deal with its own demons. I believe the west needs Repent of its Moral Decadence, and I believe the Muslim World needs to repent of its Murderous elements. As I believe that not all Muslims are violent, Not all Americans reveal in the "Sewage of the Pop culture".
I hope that we may find some common ground in this discussion, though I know we will always have disagreements on certain issues.

US funding of PBC has long since stopped. Clinton began cutting off funding and Bush has it specifically spelled out in the budget that no money in foreign aid is to go to the PBC.

The PBC teaching young Palestinian children that it is great to blow yourself up and kill a few Jews is nothing new. The PBC has been using this show for a long, long, long time to spread the word of hate and indoctrinate young children into the culture shortly after the craddle. Read the story...the set hasn't even changed much. The only difference is that broadcast from around the world are getting much easier to see presently.

Children around the world have little anger. Watch them...doesn't matter if they are poor or born into a rich family. Children love to laugh and play and they will do it in a 3ft x 3ft square if left to be for about 10 seconds. It is the parents/adults that are working so hard to make sure that the hate is handed down from generation to generation. Bigotry is not born into someone, you have to learn it, either from experiences or from another person, but you certainly aren't born with it. It is truly fortunate that my parents made sure that my grandparents were not allowed to say bad things about blacks to us children or we would have grown up racists. But using the PBC argument, shouldn't my grandparents be allowed to teach me and all children my age to hate blacks? Thanks Mom and Dad for allowing me to form my opinions of blacks! I am sure that many of my friends appreciate the opportunity to prove they aren't thugs and out to steal everything I have...

What is the PBC afraid of? The children my grow up happy? They might forget to hate Jews? There might be a shortage of suicide bombers in the future?

By the way, yes, Hamas has a show that is very similar in nature. However, this show is by the PBC and has been for about a decade. The name has changed slightly, but the theme remains true - Jews are bad, kill Jews and Suicide Bomber is a desired vocation, if even only a short lived one. Also, the UN actually helped fund a rennovation of the children's studio.
