I think it is a great idea as it is a stress relieving technique they can use the rest of their lives. It is also a great core strength builder which so many like to ignore in favour of bulging upper bodies.. Yoga, or martial arts like karate are great fro children's physical and mental health. I also would bet that their sick time at this school drops also with the new yoga exercises.
When we were fostering children we had to take them on a group yoga class that was especially for all the children in care to see if it could help with their stress and anxieties. We went once a week for 3 months, and the children found it of great benefit.
Whilst the kids were doing their class, the adults were given the opportunity to go into another room to have their own yoga/relaxation class, you joined in if you wanted or lay relaxing on a mat and pillow if you didn't. It was all done to tranquil music, and although I chose not to do the yoga, I found the hour on the mat used to find me falling asleep for the hour because the whole ambience of the class was so relaxing
I don't know what it was about the yoga class, but the kids definitely looked forward to going, and were far calmer for a few days afterwards, so I can see that this teacher would also probably gain great results from her pupils!
