I read about an EB-1(A) visa which does not require a US employer..

Based on the information from this website below:

I can not say about getting into the states as my two brother in laws just went and got work and stayed till they decided to come home. Illegal but effective.

Coming into Canada two people I have been speaking two one from Trinidad one from england both concurred at the 24 month mark.

My friend from Trinidad come here (brother to sponsor him) Then once he had his papers he was married to his wife stayed with her for three weeks then it took almost 20 months for her to get the paper work for her to join him in Canada. Should have been 12 or less months but a change in politics caused a major paper work delay in Trinidad.

I don't qualify for the eb-1 (A) visa after all I sent in my resume and c.v. to a certain website online where an attorney gave me a assesment that it is for very acclaimed few individuals of special talents, with internationally recognized awards etc in their field which I have not reached yet. If you are thinking of an eb-1 (A) and you are a person of amazing artisit talent, you may have already earned your way into the States, but if you haven't already and you want to. Don't consider this visa until you win an equivalent to a nobel peace prize. *Sigh* I was hoping earning this visa would give me a legitamitimate "in" to being with my boyfriend in Seattle. Now I really have no in except to visit him every 3 months at a time. I'm so sad now.

If you both are serious and he is a citizen then you can get married and that should be a definite ticket, but of course ensure it is for love and not residency.
