How does one get Black worms and what is the proper treatment for them?

Might be wrong but we used to call them mud worms. They live in mud by water, children play and get the segment from the worm on their hands and eat them or rub eyes ears etc. and in the egg goes to hatch later on. The worms reproduce by segmentation.
I do not know if the egg will live as there are not really parasites but worms most often used by me to feed my fish at home. Stinky little fellas at that.
