Gun Permit - Page 2

Well some one has compared them. Also which is worse 3 inches of steel in the back of the neck or slid through the ribs or an once of lead in the head. All end in the same result. Ever witness an experienced knife thrower?

But on to the real issue do gun laws work.

https://www.gun-control-network.org/GF05.htm

Two interesting things I noted in here one handguns not hunting rifles or shotguns are the real issue and as I stated handguns are for hunting humans!

Second interesting is the high number of other weapons used. Now I will keep in mind in england gun restrictions are much better then the sites or Canada so I would expect an increase in the hand guns stats and rifles used.

What I found alarming was the use of air-rifles ie pellet guns! The numbers were very high though obviously the death count was nonexistent. What it does show though is if you can not get a gun a knife or blunt instrument will be used. So is the issue here what instrument you chose to be hurt by or why are the number of incidents on the rise?

Here is a good article on what is being found.

To bad you can not have an test "Are you a moron" before any one was allowed a firearms. So many people cry I have no idea how the child got the gun mean while the gun was in the dresser drawer! Fire pins must be removed and lock separate from rifle and the ammo some where else all under lock and key.

But back to why give to a baby? heirloom or you fear you will not be there when they get old enough I can understand but really I do agree why are the laws allowing it. Perhaps the dog can have one too after all I hear some get credit cards.

I think the "moron" test idea has a lot of merit Krakyn! I take your point about the difference between shot guns and hand guns, however we do have another forum which deals more specifically with firearm laws.

I guess the startling thing for me about this case is that the law allows ownership of firearms at any age. That strikes me as a bit strange - it's perhaps a difference of culture.

Gun Permit History & Civil Business Politics

If grandpa is concerned about not making it long enough to see him get the gun at the right age, then will it to him. It will really mean much more to the kid when they are old enough to appreciate the gesture even if grandpa is not there to get it to him personally.

Actually, the thing in question is getting a gun permit for a 10 month old. Let me take this to the illogical conclusion...

What if dad is a criminal with a felony... Now this makes it impossible for him to get a gun theorectically by law by himself. However, if he has a child that can apply and he sign for...I could see this slipping through the cracks. There are several other hypothecticals that come to mind because of this situation where the process may fail. Again, I think this is a great test of the system and questions like this better be answered and posed for scrutiny.

That is a very good point Vincenzo, but if he is a criminal he will commit this crime with out without the gun. SO I guess what the point is that I seem to miss is that with out the gun just perhaps the victim will live even though the crime is still committed.

Arvhic I think culture does play a part in this also. I grew up in a rural area and perhaps that taints how I view a weapon.

Gun Permit

I do not think it will change some types of permits. I think you may see some added applications for a short time but those who want to have and own a gun probably already have the permits and the guns.

I know I would never buy a gun for a baby but as my kids got older they knew I had and carry a firearm. I made sure they knew that it was not a toy. I took them out to a range and shot some melons with it showing what happens when a firearm is fired. As they got older I let them shoot my handgun at a range under supervision. They know how it feels they know how to use one and they know what it can do to a person. I have had no problems with my guns being played with. I do keep the handgun locked up when I am not home.
