I took Felipe to see this. I was surprised by the number of adult situations in the movie. Nothing strong, just it would take an adult really to get the gist of what was happening. I also do not understand Hollywood's need to bring transsexual themes into children's films. I saw at least two common characters that were clearly male but dressed as women and performing women's functions.
Other than that the movie was okay, probably you can tell I am not a Shrek fan, but the animation was quite good.

I think these kind of films will often have some adult-related themes to give something of interest and humour to all those adults taking their children to watch them. I wouldn't actually see Shrek as being an entirely child-focused film anyway - the animation is probably focused for children, but much of the dialogue can only be fully appreciated with an adult mind.
Haven't seen the third one yet - but have heard good things.
