EU: Crackdown against Illegal Migrants

The European Union is planning to take stronger measures against illegal immigration. According to an EU draft bill, the prosecution of both businesses and private people involved in illegal employment will result in fines and imprisonment. In return, legal immigration will be increased. EU Vice-President Commissioner Franco Frattini has suggested introducing a European aBlue Carda, which would be similar to the US aGreen Carda system. He said that the EU needs legal migration due to its ageing population and low birthrate.
