They are trying to tell you to focus and put things in order, maybe your priorities are not set straight and you are kind of messing up in some areas.

Sometimes this refers to people who will soon pass away, go to jail or make some long term change that will affect other people or themselves, so the idea is to prepare for the change now and thus nothing will be left undone when you cannot see about it anymore.

Order Affairs Put

Yes, specifically people who are expected to die or become incapacitated are encouraged to take care of their financial affairs. It means having a will prepared, appointing an executor for your estate (or prepare a power of attorney), make sure your minor children will be cared for financially and physically, etc.

If your doctor tells you to get your affairs in order, this is not good news!
