Mitt Romeny Handling Religious Questions

What do you think? Did he answer her in the first instance saying "we" don't have those doctrines right or was he saying she does not have those doctrines right?

I think he said "we" but I may be wrong. He was just trying to downplay those issues. He did not look very nervous.

Of course, he is trying to distance his religion from his political run, BUT to say we do not have those doctrines down right? spock.gif She was indeed asking about fundamental things, nothing controversial.

Well, three things:

1) He is a bit naive and does not know all Church history/doctrine.

Or

2) He didn't say "we".

Or

3) He just brushed it off quick so the jounalist would not remain talking about LDS beliefs.

I doubt that, I think he used Pres. Hinckley's "that's behind us..." diplomacy to go on to more important issues. I have seen him in interviews, he knows how to talk the talk, but religion will always come up time and time again, I wonder if he really is ready to represent the Church.

What you mean? If he wins, he may become the President of the United States but not the President of the Church. I know what you are trying to say but I do not think is fair to say that he will represent the Church. The guy is just a normal guy who wants to become President and happen to be a Mormon.

I haven't watched the video yet, but JB is right in that if Mitt Romney were to become President, or even Vice President, he would represent the Church. Not officially, but in effect. The Church would be judged by his actions, his appearance, his charisma. Remember what you have seen about how every time a Mormon commits a crime, that criminal becomes, in effect, a representative of the Church.

Update:
I can't tell what he said in that one spot, but it is fairly clear that he meant that she didn't have them quite right.

He said, "You haven't got those doctrines exactly right...", but when I listened to it again I do not see where she did not get it right, we do believe those things... at least those of us who have dug deeper than the Gospel Principles manual.

If he were just part of a main stream religion like protestant, catholic or evangelical then that may not matter, but he is a Member of the Church most see as cultist and close to paganism, so his every move will come under scrutiny.
