This does not surprise me in the least. The entertainment industry is a very superficial world, where everything is heavily dependent on a woman's physical beauty rather than talent. There is a lot of pressure to be successful in the entertainment industry for women! If a young female enters the entertainment industry with a superb voice and can dance too, this is simply not enough for her to become successful. Agents would often encourage the budding star to change her outlook in order to "market" the singer properly. After all, sex sells!

Rather off topic, but... Avril Lavigne constantly criticizes Britney Spears, every chance she gets but have you looked at her lately? Since Britney has shaved her head, Avril has dyed her hair blonde and recently, she has even posed topless in a magazine. Why? Because Sex Sells! She is trying to capitalize on Britney's negative press by thrusting herself in the spotlight!
