Should The Biggest Piece Be Reserved?

In the situation where everyone is sitting at the table, do you think the Biggest Piece of Chicken on the table should go to the head of the house or to first takers?

I think it is courtesy to do so. In fact, if I am invited to someone's home I do not immediately look for the biggest piece on the table - I think it should be left there for the one who paid for it / cooked it all in the first place.

Brandon, I never thought about it. I would choose a medium piece if I am very hungry but I would try my best not to choose the bigger one unless the person insists me to do so which I would probably not refuse. wink.gif

If I was at somebodys' house, I'd take either a small piece or a medium piece out of courtesy, but if I was at home, I'd still not have any chance of getting to the big piece of chicken, it would be gone within seconds laugh.gif
It would be a case of now you see it.. now you don't!

If you take two small pieces does that still look as bad as taking one big piece.? .the host should know that the big piece will go especially if the host knows his guest...

I agree with JB. It is only polite that you should allow the host/whoever is paying for the meal, to take the largest piece of chicken. After all, you don't want to leave people with this impression of you: "what a greedy individual," or worst, they may think, "remind me never to invite you anywhere!"

It probably should be as a matter or proper etiquette, I never thought of it that way though. I usually do go for the biggest piece, I would have to rethink that now though.
