I met Jean Borde yesterday quite by accident. We were both awaiting service from TSTT at their customer centre in Port of Spain, which service incidentally was excellent, and a brief conversation was struck up between us. After introductions I learnt of the international discussion group and decided to have a look. Here I am.
To justify the topic selected I would say that I have always been interested in and a an enjoyer of the fabulous natural life, fauna and flora, of our home country and fell saddened by the daily degradation that we see around us. I would welcome thoughts and suggestions from those who share this interest and sense of imminent loss as to the actions that might be taken to jolt citizens into awareness, if not action.
Additionally, I think that there is no mere co-incidence in the fact that an eminent historiographer of T and T was a forbear of Jean's. Exchanging notes, recollections, family reminiscences about "old" Trinidad would also enliven my retirement days.
