Excess speed likely cause of Spain train crash

Police put the driver of a Spanish train under investigation today after at least 80 people died when it hit a sharp bend at speed, derailed and caught fire near the pilgrimage centre of Santiago de Compostela, in one of Europe's worst rail disasters. Ref. Source 3

Horrific accident. Trains are such a common form of transportation around Europe and one of the fastest and safest methods. It seems to me that speeding was possibly the main reason for this accident.
