Definitely! I have seen all type of dress standards at schools, even some teachers with VERY revealing clothes.

I agree. Women must not wear revealing clothes, especially when teaching boys. Boys have enough problems without having to worry about what Miss is showing.
We want to be treated as professionals, we should therefore first respect ourselves.

I agree that teachers should not wear revealing clothes; teenage boys have trouble concentrating at the best of times!

But I don't see anything wrong in teachers expressing their personal identitiy thorugh their dress code, as long as it is within reason; young people should be helped to find their own personal identity.

I think that teachers should be able to express their personal choice up to a point, but I know a friend of mine is horrified that the teacher of her children has bright pink hair- surely this is taking it a step too far, especially when school rules are so strict these days on dress codes for students?

I geusse however far teachers in a school are allowed to go with what they wear, the pubils should be allowed to do the same.

I certainly agree. We are faced with a lot of hipocracy. Actually, the children are being judged by people who did the same things that they (the students) are doing now.
We all had afros in the seventies, all of a sudden now it's not acceptable for the boys to waer it.
The students nowadays have so many other serious issues such as, drugs, violence, peer pressure, sexuality etc, to be worried about if a boy wears an afro.
However, we are professionals and we should be able to show our individuality and stay within professional standards.
By the same token, children in following rules of a school with regard to attire are getting ready for when they enter the working (real) world and have to follow rules.
Remember, at the end of it, they are representing the schools when they wear the uniform.

I conduct electricity safety awareness program at the place I work. It mean I go out to grades 4 5 6 and tell them a bit on where electricity is made its fuel sources and how to live with it safely.

It means I see the teacher and principles at their finest. I went to one school and in the office I was greeted by a lady wearing a track suit. It turned out to be the principle!

So yes a dress code is required even if it is to say skirts dress below the knee tops buttoned to the top and semi formal dress required. I will witness that the classes where the teacher looks like one the students are much nicer and listen more intently then the classes where the teacher looks like a jogger out on the street.

When I conduct the sessions I wear slacks proper shoes and a collared shirt.
