4 IN 10 U.S. CHILDREN BORN IN 2005 WERE OUT OF WEDLOCK
Out-of-wedlock births in the United States have climbed to an all-time high, accounting for nearly four in 10 babies born last year, government health officials said Tuesday.

I know that many more women are wanting to have a child but not be tied down to a man. With society not frowning upon an unmarried woman getting pregnant and having children I think that this trend is going to continue. I believe that in the next few years we will have more births out of wed lock than in wed lock.
