Communication Is Important

TTUTA needs to improve the communication to our members. We need to be contacted and know what the TTUTA plans are when the information is current.
It's simple enough since every one who applys to TTUTA includes an email address on the application form.
This will be the best way to communicate to the membership.
In addition, there are representatives at each school that need to be kept informed so that they can inform the other TTUTA members in the schools.
As it is now, we (the reps) have to check the Express (all schools get the Guardian) so sometimes, the reps do not know what is going on.

As I understand it they want to have the web site spitting out information so all can get the correct message at the click of a button rather than Chinese letters, however they are still to get that information to me so I can update the site.

Communication Is Important Caribbean / Tobago & Trinidad

We are in negotiation mode at present. There will be a march on Thursday which is the day after a holiday (Arrival Day, May 30).
Where do we get information on the meeting place, time, route etc? I am interested not only in finding out but informing other teachers at my school.
Thanks for the response

kaisofan, if you can't access TTUTA information online try calling any of the offices during work hours.

Important Communication

I thought that that was the purpoe of having a website. It's not about having individuals call the office, it's about passing on as much information to the masses as easily as possible.
The more effective they (we) become at doing this will result in an even larger response to the protest (or any) action called by TTUTA.
I say this because I saw a teacher from another school and when I told her that I went to the march in San Fernando, she told me that she did not even know that it was taking place.
It's not about me.

kaisofan,

You have a very valid point. I too wish that I could just log on the the official TTUTA website for updates. Unfortunately that is not the reality and may not be the reality for a while to come. My question "what is being done to make the old forum more active" went unanswered and even here at this new space activity is lacking.

Why is it so? Maybe:

1. Absence of TTUTA IT/webmaster personnel
2. Lack of interested teachers (how many do you know who really are interested in an online TTUTA presence?)
3. Trinidad and Tobago simply isn't moving fast enough to occupy a significant www presence.

Maybe we have not moved into this century. Many people use the excuse that they are waiting for the computer loan to kick in order to get connected.

I am the web designer of the original site. That site was designed years ago and they updated it once since then just to change the picture to the current President. I met with the hierarchy in March of this year and they were excited to get started with both Updating the site and having this Forum handle the interactive part. Well, we are in June, and I have not received anything to date. I do not want to change anything to the current site either to ensure that I get what they expect first.

However, I do think that those of you who have joined the Community can be more proactive. For instance you can post in the MANY Threads we have here - share your thoughts and give suggestions, so as others see you they may catch the vision and join in. In this way Communication is not only important, but is made exciting.
