I think the lady who has admitted to giving birth to this baby should be charged with attempted murder. There is no reason other than hoping for the child to die to have been placed into a sewer pipe. I think this lady should suffer in prison for the suffering this child had to endure.

I think this woman has quickly came up with a plausible story to keep herself from being prosecuted after they found the baby when another person heard the cries. If this was a true accident then why did the mother not call the authorities?

In China there are some really heinous rules about having only one child and if you're a single mum, its near to impossible to register the infant. I'm not for an instant condoning what she did, but she may have felt it too hard to do anything else. I hope she gets the help she needs. The one-child policy also needs to be looked at. This story went global. Broke my heart to see him being in the pipe, but what a little fighter! I hope he gets the love and support now, which will not deem him to be known as the sewer pipe baby for the rest of his life.
