Brazilian Blacks vs. US Blacks

Comments: Do the Blacks in Brazil see themselves the same way as US Blacks do? I mean do they always have to be remembering roots and Africa or do they adapt to what they have now?

I am watching a documentary on being Black in Brazil. Some basic facts I learned:

* Brazil has one of the biggest Black population outside of Africa
* Brazil claimed to be the first to banish racism but at the same time they were the last county in the Americas to abolish slavery.
* Over four million Blacks came from Africa as slaves to Brazil. Over one million of those landed and stayed in a city of Brazil called "Salvador".
