Burger King Back in Japan
Burger King and its famous Whopper burger returned to Japan Friday after a six-year hiatus, and customers who lined up for hours at the first new branch needed no translation to understand "whopper" means "outlandishly huge."

That's great news for those Burger King's lovers in Japan. It is interesting to notice how Americanized seem Japan, they opened a famous doughnut chain there too with great success.
But the big rival still being Mc Donalds who was the responsible for putting Burger King out in 2001 in the first place. Let's see what happens now!
Well the US did conquer Japan (no offense intended) so the US culture is set in motion there and the people absorb it like a sponge. I prefer Burger King over Mc Donald's any day, but I would NEVER spend hours in a line to eat it!
One of the problems that Burger King had in Japan was that their menu was too much for the Japanese. The typical Japanese doesn't want or need a whopper. This is what McDonalds figured out and is why there is no Quarter Pounder or Quarter Pounder w/cheese in Japan and they certainly don't need a Double or Tripple Quarter Pounder. They also didn't offer something in the local flavor like McDonalds has in Japan or anywhere else they go.
