| 2 | cup | rolled oats | |
| 2 | cup | flour | |
| 1 | cup | shortening | |
| 1 | cup | sugar (brown) | |
| 1/2 | teaspoon | salt | |
| 1 | teaspoon | soda | |
| 1/2 | cup | sour milk | |
Directions: | |||
| Mix the first five ingredients together thoroughly. Dissolve soda in the sour milk, add to other ingredients and mix well. Put half mixture in pan and cover with date filling. Put rest of mixture on top and press down. Bake in 350 oven for 25 min. Date Filling: 1/2 cup of dates chopped, 1/2 cup brown sugar, one tb. cornstarch, 1 cup of hot water. Cook till thick stirring constantly. | |||
