Can Christianity and Islam be considered compatible religions?

Compatible? I won't call it compatible. There are some things that may be similar to each other but compatibility is a whole different issue. Islam seems to believe in extremes (in my opinion, examples: f woman's head is uncover she is not being modest, apostasy punished by death, etc).

I believe that if the teachings of Jesus are interpreted correctly it is entirely compatible with Islam. Much of my interest in the New Testament has been in reconciling it with Quranic teachings. The Quran infact affirms Judaism and Christianity.

Comments: To say that Jesus was crucified would be wholly true according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John of the New Testament of the Bible, and this would depend on the true identity of Jesus.

To say that the Messiah or Christ was crucified would definitely be false and misleading and contrary to the claim of the Quran and the evidence of Scripture as contained in the Bible.

I am saying that the Bible confirms that the Christ definitely was not crucified, in agreement with the Quran, but you have written that:

international QUOTE
"While there are those that believe that Christ was not crucified on a actual crucifix, they do agree that he was crucified (lesser meaning in the dictionary) by the Romans"

and you have used "Christ" when you should have used "Jesus" because the Bible confirms that Jesus was crucified, but, as I have written, Jesus was the name that was given to both crucified thieves, according to the Bible.

The problem with you experts is that you see one Gospel at a time and you will not bring the four Gospels into one Gospel or one account to see the "Hoax" that was planned and executed by the brilliant mind of the Messiah who preached his message as a boy in the Bible and from the cradle in the Quran.

I was brought up a Christian and I know that each Gospel on its own presents the Messiah and his companions as simple, sort of goofy fishermen, and one priest wrote in his book that they were dim-witted, and that's how Christians tend to see Jesus, and they are probably right since Jesus was each of two thieves, according to the Bible.

The Romans regarded the Messiah as the son of their God Zeus and they, according to the Bible, had more faith than the Children of Israel, and they depended on the Messiah for the healing of their sick, as with the Centurion for his servant, and they loved him and worshipped him and would not have harmed a hair on his head.
