Citizenship Dual Canada

This I will admit has always been a sore spot for me if you come to Canada it is because what you left behind was not what you liked. So let go and stand up for the country you moved to and become a 100 % Canadian.

Dual citizen ship is a desirable thing for a person since if all goes to pieces in one country you can up and leave to the second. The down fall is that as a country Canada may not be able to depend on its citizens to step up to the plate when the time comes. Instead half of the country flees leaving only the true at heart to come to her defense.

Historically our people have done well in this department but I fear that might no longer be the case and all that can be done to change it, all the better.

I would also like to see the whole process to become a citizen improved. I have worked with sooooo many people that are not citizens that it make me sick. Most here since early child hood and just never bother to apply. I say to them go home or get up and do what is right, as many good people would like to be here for the right reasons.

This is so silly, not only because you are living for so many years in a country and that behavior shows you do not care about becoming a citizen but also because of safety issues, unless they are Canadians they can be deported easily. I cannot wait to make my move to Canada and after three years apply for Citizenship! wink.gif That day would be very special and I would make sure to be a good representation of the country.

Citizenship Dual Canada

Name: Shannon

Comments: I am a Canadian Citizen born and bred. I recently married my husband who is from Romania and I totally support dual citizenship. My family is on one side of the world and his on the other. Its a great idea for us to hold passports for both countries as you never know what could happen with our families that would require us to reside in either place for an extended period of time. As well, in holding passports to both countries our children get the best of both worlds and have alot more choices for their futures. I don't think anyone has a right to judge someone on this issue. Unless you come from a situation like mine or my husbands, or someone else's for the matter who are you to sit back and tell them to pick between the wife's family or the husbands family? If my mother needed my husband and I to stay in Canada because she was ill, my husband, if he didn't have his Canadian passport would have to stay behind and wait for his Visa to be processed, anything could happen in that time. So do not judge others until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

Shannon I have experienced this issue you mention but that does not change my mind. My wifes family is from Jamaica and the 5 years ago my wife and father went to Jamaica for an extended time to look after his mother as she was nearing her death. Then after she dies my wife returned to help with the estate. When you leave an old country you leave it. If you do not wish to leave it then you should stay. You are allowed out of country for long periods of time so really it is not a big issue.

So if war breaks in Canada do all of the Dual citizens split and return when the dust settles? Or would they stay and defend the place that treated them so well. I imagine a big mix of both actions would occur.

But if your husband has dual citizen ship and you like the concept perhaps you should consider it for your children also. Perhaps it is to late I do not know as I now those rules are changing also.

LDS you would be an asset to any country.

Maybe they like the benefits of Canada without betraying their own country. To me if they are obeying the law and paying taxes what more do you want?

Loyalty and dedication to the country in which they live. That is what under lines much of the thought I have. When push comes to shove are you there to help us shove back or are you going to jump ship like a rat. At least if you are a citizen to just Canada we can have a higher hope that you will stand with us.

If you are here just to skim the top off our health care then why do we need you?

You think a piece of paper saying you are a citizen brings loyalty?
