Most video games are "boring" or too complicated, and game makers need to do more to appeal to casual players, according to the head of the world's largest video game publisher, Electronic Arts.

Most games any more as Razor stated are the same thing most shooters take the sam approach as its predessors and same goes for many others. Then truly addictive games may be over looked by the public for the reason they may be to hard or the trailers don't give it credit. Id much rather play a game with a great story nice combat and difficult content rather than a game I can master and use the same skills for the next game of the title like Gta.
*Must avoid gamer elitist attitude*
EA has done more to further crap games than any game company I can think of. They are notorious for making simple overly repetitive games that are sure to sell well. As a result EA has avoided looking into new series until they have driven their current thing into the ground (The Sims, Command and Conquer, EA Sports, Medal of Honor)
At least microsoft has a thief at the helm who will snatch up companies that make new and original games.
