Just have to love that mentality "awe its ok cause I was drunk yuck yuck". Being booted out of the army for drinking! this guy has a real problem and is to stupid to realize it. Perhaps a small trip in his nice bed sheet to the broncs might change his thoughts.

The scariest part for me is the fact he said awe heck thats nothing should have seen some other stuff we did on a regular basis. Wake up USA army this guy is making you look a fool as he makes it sound like the whole army just drinks their faces off every time they get some down time. Yup theres and army to be scared off cause they will be to darn hung over to know who or what they be shooting at the next day and they have no self respect let alone respect for the enemies capability. Did not a Canadian just die and the USA got off with an oops I'm Sorry. I know it makes me stop and think for a second as to what the real issue is. I would have had him thrown in the hole with bread and water for a month and when he came back out I bet he would not think the video was so funny after all, might even make him think sobriety is a good idea when playing with live ammo.

I totally agree with you Krakyn. People cannot be allowed to carry on like this.

When we talk of the Armed Forces, we also associate words like Dignity & Honour. There are so many young kids who look up to the guys in uniform hoping to be like them one day. This kind of behavior makes it look as if there's no discipline and it's one big party! Whereas, the truth is as far away from it as it can possibly be...

Krakyn did you read the article? This man was a soldier in the Australian Army, not the US army. Believe it or not the US army is not the only one in the world.

It says that the video is about three years old, and the soldier responsible has since been discharged for "drinking offences." You have to wonder if he was discharged before or after this video came to light. I would wager that his superiors noticed he had a problem and warned him about a few times, and then ultimately discharged him before the vidoe came out.

I remember when I was in the military that there was a lot of drinking going on. Most of the guys though were very careful not to let it affect their work. This is for a couple of reasons. If you are inebriated on duty you will probably be sent to see the old man; bust in rank and dock in pay are in sight for you in that case. Also, and more importantly is that your life may very well depend on your ability to do your job.

I remember Dignity and Honor, and I know for a fact it is still there. Of course, with the media telling you everything that the militaries of this world do wrong, and very little of what they do right, it is hard for a civilian to see through it.

Dear Bob, it does not matter that the man was in the Australian Army not the U.S Army. The only thing important was that he in an Army... But, please don't get me wrong, I am not the one who has the right to crucify him.

My dad has been in the Army for over 27 years and this kind of a behavior is not at all accepted. I firmly stand by the fact that if you are a part of such an institution, you cannot take it for granted.

I agree that it does not matter which Army the man was in. I do object with Krakyn's statements regarding the US Army's supposed ineptness, especially when the article refers to a former soldier of the Australian Army.

The majority of men and women in any organized military of the free world are good people who take pride in what they do. We should be careful not to associate them with the small minority of soldiers who bring shame to the profession.

As long as he wasn't on duty at the time he was drinking I see no problem with it. Because someone drinks and has fun has nothing to do with their being professional, competent, and capable. Many of those I served with drank like fish and did stuff as dumb or dumber as what that Australian soldier did. We did all of this and yet we were all in special forces. I don't believe that many would consider us inept or unprofessional.

bobnbrittw sorry I somehow managed to mix up the country in the article. Yes I do agree with you the military is a place were honor and dignity is valued. I my self have many relatives who serve in the Canadian Army.

The majority of military are walking the straight line but can the army afford one who does not? After all how many hung over soldiers does it take to lose a battle or cause unnecessary deaths due to err in judgment after a hard night of drinking?

Secruss if you drink say 14 to 18 beer and go to bed at 1 or 2:00 AM at what point after that are you fully recovered well enough to perform at your peak? The next day I highly doubt it most likely 24 hours plus after you had your last drink. I personally think it is unprofessional to commit acts that could endanger your fellow worker.

I work in the Utility world and work on 27 000 volt distribution lines, as a lead hand I am legally responsible for those who are with me. If a some one shows up on my job site hung over he is immediately removed. Why would it be expected that a military person would be allowed to work when they could be operating a gun or worse.

I think the hard part for military personal is that when off duty they are still on duty in the general population's eye. Thus any things done in their own personal time is still reflected back on to the military and the soldiers must keep that in mind.
