I set my home page to Google. However, there is this freaky website that keeps taking over google and though I deleted its cookies , it keeps showing as my home website. Whenever I start explorer, I'm faced with this boring website. What's the solution for this?
Which browser are you using? If Internet Explorer then...
1. Click on 'Tools' then 'Internet Options'
2. Where it says 'home page' set the field to what you want
3. Hit 'Apply'
4. That's it!
However there are sites that change this... you may wish to get a firewall such as zonealarm and also delete any mysterious registry entries.

Can u elaborate on this please? What's the use of the firewall? and how can I find out more about the mysterious registery entries??
Basically if you have javascript or java enabled in your browser then a site you visit can cause scripts to run that change the settings I explained automatically without you knowing it. This to me is one of the fallbacks of IE (which I assume you use). Here is what I suggest. Have a look over the following threads as they discuss these issues:

As far as registry entries... I would not try to change those unless you are a techie type of person, otherwise your computer could stop running, so ignore that for now.
You should probably run a program to check for spyware. Adaware, for example or another like that. Most are free for home users. There is one in particular that overtakes google.com and then will prevent you from even accessing google at all once it has been installed on your PC. These programs get installed with some assistance by you, but usually you don't realize you are doing it.

I believe this thread was started to state what your homepage is set too, right? Well, I'll make that assumption anyway. My homepage is also Google. Pretty boring, but I use Google so much that it just makes sense to have it be the first site that pops up. A long time ago, when iwon.com first came out, I had them set up as my homepage. Then they got way too busy and started advertising too much. Google is just so simple it is great to have because it loads so quickly. I love Google!

Since everyone doesn't use Internet Exploder, I thought I would give some tips for setting your homepage in Firefox.
1. click 'tools'
2. select 'options'
3. click on the 'general' section
4. type your homepage on the line.
5. or you may first browse to the page you want to be your homepage, follow the directions 1-3, and just click use current instead.
Mine is google, but it is personalized. Since I keep it signed in and I keep the cookie, my homepage comes up as https://www.google.com/ig and uses my personal google settings.
