How he passed security? Good thing the monkey behaved good in the flight.

NEW YORK - A man smuggled a monkey onto an airplane Tuesday, stashing the furry fist-size primate under his hat until passengers spotted it perched on his ponytail, an airline official said. The monkey escapade began in Lima, Peru, late Monday, when the man boarded a flight to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., said Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Alison Russell. After landing Tuesday morning, the man waited several hours before catching a connecting flight to LaGuardia Airport. During the flight, people around the man noticed that the marmoset, which normally lives in forests and eats fruit and insects, had emerged from underneath his hat, Russell said. "Other passengers asked the man if he knew he had a monkey on him," she said. The monkey spent the remainder of the flight in the man's seat and behaved well, said Russell, who didn't know how it skirted customs and security. |
Some questions:
1. That monkey must have been well trained to stay still with him for hours
2. There must have been a hole in his hat for air and something for which the money could see too, as they are generally known to be claustrophobic
3. What was he thinking in the first place?
As JB stated, the monkey is very well trained for him to remain still for so many hours. Maybe the owner is accustomed carrying him around and no one ever noticed!
But on a serious note, it is a grave breach in security, as well as a health hazard, for the passenger to be carrying this monkey. Suppose this animal had a disease such as rabies? What happens if a child tried to play with the monkey's tail and it bit him? This may sound a bit strange but suppose the passenger had a mini bomb assembled and the monkey was holding it in his hands? I think the airport personnel should look into increasing security or instructing the security to be more vigilant in the future.
Yes It must have been well trained and was he smuggling it into the states? Perhaps he bought it in peru and was avoiding customs on purpose.
How do you know you do not know you have a monkey on your head? Somthing is askew here as far as I am concerned and not just with customs.
