My main question is this... how can you be truly effective wearing all that clothing?

And how is she going to apprehend a man? Women are not allowed in the Muslim world to touch a member of the opposite sex that is not a relative. I guess she is there to arrest the women who are not living up to the draconian laws that the islamic world is under.

I believe they only handle women, but my point is if someone is really trying to get away then all that material is going to make them very confined, especially if they have to conduct a chase.

Why would they have to chase anybody? Isn't it a shoot first ask questions later place?

I guess they have to catch the person so that they can torture them first.

But to your point on their effect as policewomen with all that clothing. Consider the amount of Pads and clothing worn by an American football player. Maybe all the clothing worn by these women cover shoulder pads and a helmet and they just tackle the assailants.

Wow, and I thought I was critical of Iran! I am not sure how the policewomen work in Iran but having the limitations of only be able to handle women seem a bit silly. What will they do if they see a man attacking a woman in the street?

Its not a crime for a man to beat her woman in an islamic society so I don't think it it would be that much of an issue

While the video looks like something out of a Saturday Night Live skit, I do have the feeling that these women will not be out there on the front lines of policing actions. I am invisioning a lot of parking ticket citations and desk jobs. It takes small steps to go forward and even in what we would call advanced countries, we have just started getting more women into traffic and highway patrols. I cannot imagine that Iran has leaped so far forward into the into the womens rights movement as to have passed us all by. As for the clothes, wont hinder righting up tickets, but running away from a officer in that garb would be fairly easy... That is unless they really do shoot first and ask questions later! In that case, they could be wearing a velcro suit and it still wouldnt matter as long as the gun worked...
