Looking at those pictures from the last post with the news story I can only wonder what story they had to tell. They were beautiful / handsome individuals with so much ahead of them.

It will remain a problem as long as the government keeps cutting funding to the VA hospitals so they can not reach the veterans who need to help to transition back to normal life. The fact that they will never totally fit in makes them think that ending life is the way to go so they do not hurt themselves or any one around them any more.
Is it because of transitioning from military to civil or because of a deeper problem. If someone has problems going into the military it will only get worst not better.

Usually it is transitioning back to civilian life after seeing some of the bad things that war can imprint upon some people. Not everyone has the mind set to be able to deal with seeing a friend get blown up and you having to remove parts of him or her from your uniform as you keep moving on to make sure you are not next.
Other times it is not that bad but constant bombardment of bad things happening around you can make a veteran distrustful of those around them and worried who is actually a friendly or not. This is not something easy to deal with once you are out of the war type zones.
Its the sad consequence of war. Politicians refer to it as "Collateral damage" but when someone in a family dies it affects more than the person who died.

More needs to be done with helping our soldiers. While the military prides itself in making strong bodies and minds they may destroying the mind of some rather than making it strong.
