I'm Nate, I'm from Utah. I've been a member since 1994. I'm in my 20's and I served a mission in Brasil Maceió. I'm majoring in computer engineering and UVSC.

Thanks for posting your introduction message, this INTERNATIONAL Forum allows you to interact positively with many people on varying topics such as LDS Church news, Doctrine, the Book of Mormon, etc. However, do keep in mind that LDS Related Discussion is kept only in the LDS Related Boards as this is an International Community.

I was in Maceio long before it was a mission. It was my favorite city. We lived in our apartment on the 16th floor penthouse overlooking a beautiful 5-star resort on the beach. We had two doormen as well, who would carry our luggage up to our room.

Wonderful place.

Tortdog, you sure you were on a mission on vacation? I sure did not have any kind of living quarters like that on my mission? Penthouse?

I'm not kidding. It was a penthouse. It took up 1/4 of the entire floor of this large 16-floor apartment building. We had a patio on the top of the building about the size of a very large living room. (We also had another patio from which we hung hammocks.)

It had solid wood and marble/stone floors (marble/stone in the bathrooms), with stone/marble counter tops. It was a three bedroom apartment used by two sets of elders, oh, and along with a servants' quarters. We didn't use all the rooms, obviously, hanging our laundry in in the servants' area.

Best of all, it had a hot water heater. A big one. We has running hot water from all the taps which was a HUGE luxury.

It was wonderful. And we baptized almost every week. Life was good.

Did I mention that to get to my area we had to walk along the beaches of Maceio? Oh, my, beautiful beaches. It was truly a paradise. I kind of had it rough. (I also served in Salvador, Fortaleza and Joao Pessoa, but Maceio was at the top of my list.)

Rather off topic, but... When is that RPG game going to move? I'd post again that my guy went back into hiding. I'm afraid with the time we've been sitting there that we're all going to get killed.
