What or who is an Indigo Child, and why are they called "Indigo"?

For any who wish to know what is underlying this answer please Google Indigo Child and Kryon.
From what I read and Indigo child is one with an Indigo Aura (is the color on the spectrum between about 450 and 420 nm in wavelength, placing it between blue and violet.) This apparently a new and dominating Aura for children in the last 10 years(95%). The name given them is from the colour of the aura.
The children apparently have some distinct traits as follows:

Basically they are referring to children that would be diagnosed with ADD.
The people involved in this unconfirmed theory seemed to be deeply involved in a religious(a belief system not sure what it is) movement. They seem to like the thought of believing in a god of light who is good and communicate through deep meditation with a being they refer to as Kryon. Kryon refers to its self as us. There appears to be others like it that are not of light and are there to confuse us humans. Chrystal healing for the body is referred to in many location on these sites as well. One site states as fact that humans are fast evolving and have only been on the earth as a single species fro 100,000 years which prior to that was about 11 human species. Apparently we are the prototype that passed all testing or what ever and manage to survive.
Having said all that these Indigo Children are the next step in our evolution and we are to help them expand their minds and perception of the multi dimensional universe out there that we are all to closed minded to perceive let alone believe that it exists. I think Kryon is our self appointed guide to get there.
Funny I have read books as far back as 1972 that where hitting at this same idea, perhaps the religion was more wide spread back then then any realized.
