BABY CARROTS COULD BE CONTAMINATED: CFIA
People in Canada are being warned not to eat a brand of baby carrots from Mexico because the product may be contaminated with shigella bacteria.

That's really frightening, especially as the illness involves nausea, diarrhoea and fever and can last between 4-14 days!
The frail or children with this, I suspect could take a long time to get back to normal after your body having suffered such a nasty disease.
The size of the carrot being a baby carrot, I would imagine the main consumers would be children eating them as they are a handy size, and don't take as long to cook.
You really don't expect nasty illnesses to occur when you encourage your kids to eat up their veg!
