Wireless Vs. Wired Network

Wireless vs. Wired Network

Recently, I was thinking that I would look at getting some sort of wireless network because of all the wires around and the kids. I have never used a wireless home system, but I do have wireless internet service. After doing some research I decided to stick with my RJ-45 cable / hub and S-video cable rather than get wireless for the following reasons:

1. A wireless system is expensive. The router is one price then you have to get an adapter for each device.

2. With wireless you have to worry about those getting the signal beyond your threshold. When you are living in close quarters of others (apartment building) then it is a risk.

3. Basic home appliances cause interference - phones, microwave, and other signals.

4. Most basic wireless systems do not handle S-video broadcast and so I would need a separate unit for that. The result will mean that the internet and s-video signal will interfere with each other.

So, now I have to think of how to handle the cables. Recently I was looking at wire bridges, and looms, but I will start a new Thread for that.
