In Canada we have several taxes:
Income tax is taken by both your provincial and federal governments and the rate varies depending on your income.
One federal tax is the Goods and Service Tax (GST) at 6% on almost everything you buy; and one provincial Sales Tax (PST) which varies depending on the province you chose to live in.
