Trinidad Total Policing Day
Today, 23 March, 2015, the Trinidad & Tobago police conducted a total police exercise that disrupted citizens from reaching to work and school. TV6's Beyond the Tape highlighted the issue and inspector Alexander claimed that the exercise had nothing to do with the current stalled salary negotiations. Citizens complained that they could not get to anywhere as certain parts of the country was at a standstill. What are your thoughts?
The police executive have distanced itself from the actions of today and have even apologized and established an order that nothing like this will happen again. However, there are rumors that it will happen again tomorrow so we will need to see if the acting Commissioner will be heeded.

Comments: If the police think this is a solution for fighting crime in Trinidad and Tobago they are grossly mistaken. They may catch a few criminals but at the same time cause even more trouble for thousands of hard working citizens!
A waste of resources and people's time. Anytime an operation is done the gravity of the consequences must always be weighed. For instance, does making children across the country miss exams, people lose business, miss surgeries and medical appointments and can't reach to work worth arresting a few criminals that could be caught on any given day?
On Beyond the Tape TV6 show, Marlon announced that the Acting Police Commissioner said that the police were not being held accountable for the Total Policing Day on the 23 March, 2015 but that certain divisional offers will be. Everyone awaits to see what will be the official answer.

Title: COPS CLEAR COPS
Comments: Senior police officers acted as Judge and Jury by not taking any action against those policemen who stage road blocks in support of their pay rise protest which affected our citizens. This is something unheard of in any democracy. It is also wrong that our elected politicians should turn a blind eye to this new approach by our senior police officers to support such bad behaviour by their juniors. This announcement is now going to cause more resentment and disrespect for our police and the police system as a whole. Politicians here are making the governing of this nation even more difficult by turning a blind eye the incidents such as this. They are giving the police too much leeway to do their own thing by acting as a law onto themselves.
