This is a hilarious clip of Ms. South Carolina answering a question on why 25% of Americans can't find the United States on a map. If you have not seen this, you must.

South Carolina school system - we salute you!* (Reportedly she is "active" in her high school. I find that hard to believe (at least being active in any classes requiring a slight form of intelligence to participate in).

Mario Lopez wanted to kill her. Those 35 seconds seemed like an eternity! Nevertheless, she probably tried to say the correct term that is US Citizens and not "Americans". So she combined the two. *smile*

Unfortunately, not only is she AMERICAN but she's also from the SOUTH. Thank heavens she's not from Texas.

You mean, she is a US Citizen. For that matter, I am an American too, but I doubt Immigration and Naturalization Services would give me citizenship based on that claim.

Rather off topic, but... In Brazil they referred to us as "North Americans".

While I appreciate the ability of English (and many languages) to have several definitions of one word, I think that this particular person from South Carolina had no such liberty in her response to the question.

She merely makes no sense. However, her comment about "U.S. Americans" seems to perhaps mirror your own view!

That's right! Although I must admit the term "US Americans" sound pretty funny coming from a US citizen.

Rather off topic, but... In Argentina, they also call them "North Americans" or straight Yankees. *laughs*
